Gili Air is a small island located in north Lombok, Indonesia. It’s niche to many divers, yogis, and travellers. Whether you come here for one week, or one year; first time, or not. The constant evolution of scenery on this island means no days looks the same. The combination of light, temperature, and clouds makes every sunset a memorable experience for the eyes and the heart.

What are the best times for sunsets?
Either inland or on the beach of Gili Air, dry season or rainy season. The island is home to unbelievable colours throughout different times of the year.
The rainy season: Not as bad as you would think.
From November to March the Gili Islands welcomes the rainy season. The variety and depth of colours are the most astonishing at this time.
Rain occurs mainly in the mornings. Which means afternoons are usually dry. This makes it a perfect opportunity to grab a drink on the beach and admire the sunset. Gili Air will host the most beautiful skies between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. during the rainy season.

The comfortable safety of dry season in Gili Air
During the dry season, skies tend to be blue and the clouds become shy during this time of the year. Gili Air becomes home to more smooth and clear sunsets. Yet, the good sunset spots will never change.
The right time to enjoy a sunset on Gili Air will vary. Sunset drinks are always a big thing on the island. Any time between 5:20 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. works for catching the sunset.

The boat leaves Gili Air around 5:30 pm to go to Seahorse bay, which is the perfect moment for sunset time. It’s a great opportunity to get to see local people work from their boats and experience the sunset either on the boat or in the water. The dive in itself is quite shallow which is great for seeing the colours of the sunset underwater.
